Kaya scooted closer to Hikaru "Do you think he's going to be okay?" she whispered, concerned.

Hikaru hesitated, "I'm not sure." he said quietly. He had never seen a demon, let alone know how potent its attacks were.

Kaya bit her lip. She'd never seen anything like this, and it looked really bad. She was worried, and in the back of her mind was the quiet nagging thought that one of those creatures had attacked ehr.

The nurse cut the sleeve away from the infected arm. The black rot was still fading. The skin underneath looked like it was made entirely from scar tissue - it was pink, rough, and raw.
Taemin made a face. "It stinks."
"Demonic poison tends to smell vile. It'll fade in time."
"Will it stay like that?" the queen asked.
The monk bobbed his head. "I'm afraid so. The rot set in too quickly and permanently scarred him."
Taemin curled his hand. "Lovely. Looks like I was burned."
"Essentially, you were. By demonic fire," the monk explained.

"See, for some reason I don't believe you," Azam replied, watching her eyes. "You looked far too concerned in there to not care."

"Is it rare to survive such an attack?" Hikaru asked, speaking up.

Mitsuki glared at him, though he was right, "You act like you know me, it's kind of annoying."

The monk nodded again. "Ah, yes. If the rot had spread anymore up your neck or to your chest, you would be dead right now," he said to Taemin.
"Great. That should get me some more attention. Brilliant," he grumbled, sitting up slowly. He was still lightheaded and spacey. He looked down at the scarred skin. "It'll make for a good story though!" he said brightly.

He held up his hands as a gesture of peace. "I'm only stating what I observed. I meant no offense. But, it seems to me that I know you better than you seem to know yourself just by watching."

"Are you going to tell the actual story? I can't think of anything much more exciting than a demon attack." Kaya asked with a slightly joking tone, hoping to lighten the mood.

Hikaru smirked, "I guess that's looking on the bright side."

Mitsuki started to become frustrated, "Fine, alright, I care! I don't know why, but I do. Happy?"

"What story is better than a demon munching on your arm? I'm going with the original." He grinned at Hikaru. "It's either that or moan 'Oh, woe is me,' and I really don't like moaning."

Azam just gave her a little smile. "Satisfied, yes."

"I suppose, still it's a shame it happened." Hikaru sighed.

"This is humiliating." Mitsuki groaned, "I've always been on my own, I've always had to watch my own back and only mine. What do I care now?"

Taemin shrugged one shoulder. "It was either me or Mitsuki."

Azam chuckled and shook his head. "I can't answer that. Only you can."

Hikaru just nodded, looking at Taemin's wound. He was still confused by the boy, he risked his life to save a girl he just met at the whorehouse. It just felt strange to him.

"I suppose." Mitsuki sighed, regaining her posture, "I'm sorry about that . . tantrum. I'm Mitsuki, by the way."

Kaya raised an eyebrow at Taemin's comment but didn't say anything. He never ceased to surprise her.

Taemin's mouth twitched into an amused smile. "Not what you were expecting from me, I'm guessing. By the looks on your faces." He curled and uncurled his fingers. "A prince risking his life for a whore. Rarely heard of, isn't it?" he chuckled darkly. "As if one life is more valuable than another," he muttered mostly to himself.
Rai smiled faintly and rubbed his back. "You should rest."
"Rai. I'm not sleeping while there's a demon hoard roaming the city." He got to his feet. He grabbed her arm to keep himself steady. "I could do with something for the dizziness."
The monk handed him two pills. "Take these, your Grace."
"Thank you." He swallowed them dry.

"Azam," he replied with a little smile. "Honor to meet you, Mitsuki."

"I think I have learned to expect the unexpected with you Taemin." Kaya said with a slight smile "I would advise you against trying to fight demons immediately after you've been mauled by one if I thought it would make any difference." she added, watching him with concern as he stood.

Taemin flashed a reassuring, charming smile. "Your concern is touching, but we're not going back out there right this moment. We need to talk to the kings. Now."

"Now that is a good idea." Kaya nodded in agreement

Rai nodded. "Alright. Let's go find your father, and yours as well, Kaya."

"Joy, I get to explain this." Kaya sighed, looking down at her bloodstained hands, dress and knives. "Let's go."

Taemin laughed once. "I'll back you up." He nodded once. "I think I know where there'll be." He lead the way through the hall to the massive conference room where the emperors and Dragon Kings had met last time.

"I might need it thanks." Kaya said, walking beside him.

Hikaru followed them and looked over at Rai, "Are you holding up okay?"

"No one has ever been honored to meet a whore." Mitsuki smirked, "I suppose I should go see the prince. . " she said, sounding disinterested.

"Anytime, Princess," Taemin replied with a friendly smile.
Rai smiled. "Yeah, I think so. Just making sure the prince stays standing. That's all I'm focused on right now."

Azam only smiled. He heard their voices. "This way," he said, leading the way.

Kaya smiled back at him "And I'll be sure to return the favor if you need it." she replied.

"You know, I could do with a glass of water," Taemin replied thoughtfully.
