"I'm their father, I should've had someone keep an eye on the kids." Alaric sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"Oh, honey." Gen sighed, hugging him and kissed his forehead, "I'm not mad at you, I shouldn't have yelled at you. I'm sorry." she said quietly.

Lilly peeked her head around the corner at the sound of her dad's voice.
"There you are." Mercy said, then she saw the look on her daughters face "What happened?"

Ben walked over to Lily and knelt down in front of her, "What's wrong, honey?" he asked softly.

Lily sniffed "We...we went into the city and everybody got in trouble and everybody's crying and Ash is really sick." she said without pausing to take a breathe.

Ben paled, "What on earth where you doing in the city, Lily?" he demanded.

"We just thought it would be fun." Lily said, on the verge of tears now.
"Lily, you should know better than that." Mercy said, not harshly, but sternly.

Benjamin released a sigh, running a hand through his hair, "Let's just get you to your room."

Lily just sniffed and nodded, turning to walk down the hallway.

Ben looked over at Mercy, releasing a tired sigh, "What should we do?"

"I don't know." she said, shaking her head "I just can't believe they actually went into the city." a note of fear touching her voice.

"I can't either. They're just kids!" he shook his head, "This can't go unpunished though, I don't want to risk her ever going back there without us or another adult."

"We could ground her." Mercy sighed "Or something to that effect."

"A week or two." Ben nodded, "But . . . we should also talk to her." he sighed, "It sounds like the whole experience was traumatizing to her."

Mercy nodded "It does." she agreed

"Let's go talk to her then." he suggested, offering her his hand to hold.

Mercy took it, glad he was with her, and started toward Lily's room.

Ben walked up the stairs and to Lily's door before knocking, "Can we come in to talk?"

"Yes." came the soft reply from inside. Mercy glanced at Ben before turning the handle and walking inside.

Ben walked over to Lily, kneeling down in front of her, "We're very disappointed that you went to the city without an adult. You know you could've gotten hurt, right?" he said, his voice light.

Lily nodded, eyes wide "I know, I'm sorry. I promise I won't ever do it again!" she said fervently

"Good." Ben said, hugging onto her, "Then your punishment is only four days, no outside or anything."

"Okay." Lily said softly, knowing it was no use to argue. Mercy sat down on her other side and wrapped her arms around her as well, kissing her on the top of her head, relieved she was alright.

"But all that matters to your mother and I is that you're okay." Ben smiled.

"So, you're not mad?" Lily asked, looking back and forth between the two of them.
"No, you just scared us because you could've gotten hurt." Mercy replied

"But if you ever do this again, I assure you, I will be furious." he said with a smirk, ruffling her hair.
