"Let's patch you up." Sam said, "Hakkam, can you carry him inside?"

"No," he protested. "I'll walk."
"At least let me help you," Hakkam insisted, used to his stubbornness.
He nodded once, welcoming his strong arm around his waist.

Ethan frowned, looking over at Kit and crossed his arms, he couldn't help but be a bit concerned.
"We'll get you patched up." Sam assured.

Kit had to lean on Hakkam more than he liked, but he could barely move as it was. He grunted through his teeth when Hakkam lied him down. The effort to keep himself calm and quiet left sweat on his face.
"You shouldn't have fought," Hakkam chided.
"Like hell," he growled.
"I hope he's OK," Blair said quietly, watching them go.

"You really shouldn't push yourself so hard. Especially after the carnival." Sam sighed, shaking his head.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, "Wanna go check on him?"

"Shut up. I would go mad if I didn't. You know that." He stayed still as Hakkam peeled Kit's shirt and bandages aside. His side was black and blue. "You broke more, Kit."
"I could've told you that."
"Yeah. Let's go, but stay back a little."

Sam shook his head, "You're sitting out for a while now."
"Alright, if you want." he said reluctantly.

Kit frowned. "Fine." He clenched his teeth and curled his hands into tight fists as Hakkam worked. He strapped a hard brace around his side to keep the ribs still and tied it tight. Kit swore loudly and fluently.
"I do." She arrived at the end of his stream of curses.

Alice, who had been in one of the theaters, heard noise from down the hall and ran in right when Blair did, blinking, "What happened?"

"Reaper attack," Hakkam explained. He helped Kit sit up. The effort left him exhausted.
"Will Kit be OK?" Blair asked nervously.
Kit stared at her. She could practically hear his brain trying to figure out if there was a double meaning.
"Uh. Yeah. It'll be a couple weeks before he can fight again, but he'll recover."

Alice raised an eyebrow at Blair, curious to why she would be nervous about him. She brushed it off though and moved to Kit's side, "Can I do anything to help?"

"Make sure he doesn't move for the next three days at least," Hakkam remarked, watching Kit carefully. He was still glancing at Blair, clearly torn between skepticism and blatant anger.

Alice nodded, "I can do that."
Ethan noticed Kit looking at Blair and started to become a bit protective, glaring over at him.

"I don't need a babysitter," Kit said crossly, sliding off the table and standing on his feet unsteadily. It hurt, but not as much with the brace on. He tugged on his shirt again, hissing as he moved his arms.
Blair watched him, biting her lip nervously. "If there's anything I can do--"
"You can help by staying the hell away," he snarled slowly before walking off and ignoring the whole of them.
It was hard not to smirk or look satisfied with herself. She had rattled him, and both of them knew it. And so did Hakkam, judging by the look on his face.

"He's so ungrateful." Ethan sneered.
Alice looked at Blair for a moment before going after Kit, "Hey, wait up Kit."

Hakkam glared harshly at Ethan. "I can see why he hates you," he remarked coldly before following Alice to catch up with Kit.
Blair crossed her arms loosely over his stomach. "He's always been like this. He doesn't like help. I can sympathize."

Ethan just glared back at him before looking over at Blair, "Still, he should be grateful that you want to help." he grumbled.
Alice finally made her way back to Kit, "Are you okay? Emotional wise I mean."

"I'd act the same way in his position," she reasoned with a smile.

Kit whirled, his eyes lucid. "There is nothing wrong with me!" he hissed venomously. It was something he repeated often - mostly to himself. "I'm completely fine!" His voice raised to a shout.

"Still," Ethan hesitated, "It's not right."

Alice looked at him, concerned, "Kit . . . obviously things aren't okay."

She sighed and leaned against his chest. "I know."

"Of COURSE things aren't OK! Nothing about this is OK!" He continued to yell, his hands jerking and thrashing - his gestures emphasizing his frustration, anger, and confusing. "She is not supposed to be nice! She's NOT you! She's--" He groaned loudly, grabbing at his hair with both hands. He stepped closer to Alice - too close, really. He had no concept of personal space. "She's making ME the enemy! I'm never the enemy." He panted hard, fighting to calm himself. It wasn't working. "No matter how . . . cruel I seem, I'm NEVER the enemy."

"He better come around though." he grumbled.

Alice backed away, growing uncomfortable by how close he was. She hesitated before putting two hands on his shoulder and looked him straight in the eye, "Kit." she said soothingly, "Please, calm down."

"See, you don't hate him," she said cheerily. "If you hated him, you wouldn't care so much."

His breathing calmed and evened out as he met her eyes. The longer he looked, the calmer he became. The fit left him exhausted and in pain. He touched the brace on his side and winced fleetingly.

"What?!" Ethan stammered, looking away, "I hate the guy, I could care less."

Alice smiled at him, "See? Don't you feel better?"

"It's funny how 'hating' someone requires the same amount of passion as loving someone. If you really hated him, you'd be apathetic. Uncaring. But you choose to get mad, insult him, and fight. Just like he doesn't hate you. I've seen how Kit treats someone he hates. He doesn't even acknowledge their presence. He doesn't hate me either. Not really."

He nodded, stepping back. He stared at her curiously.
"H-how did you do that?" Hakkam asked, looking between the two. "I've never seen anyone calm him down like that."

"You're becoming a bit too deep for me." Ethan frowned.

Alice looked at him, confused, "I just talked . . that's all. Why are you guys looking at me like that?"
