"Hello." Alice said awkwardly, shivering as she took the muffin, "Thanks." she said, seeming distracted.

Kit didn't bother asking. Blair was putting her off.
Blair frowned, raising an eyebrow. "Something wrong? Are you alright?"

"No, it's nothing." She said, shaking her head, though she found Blair strangely familiar. She hesitated a moment before asking, "Do I know you?"

Blair frowned thoughtfully and munched on her cereal. "No, I don't think so," she decided with a smile and shrug. It's that angel. Wonder what happened to her to make her human.

Alice just nodded , "Right, sorry." she said, hesitating before leaving the kitchen.
"What was that all about?" Ethan frowned.

Kit frowned and watched her go.
Blair shrugged, looking worried. "I don't know. Did I scare her?"
"Well, considering," Kit started. "Babies cry when you walk by, no doubt."

"Knock it off, Kit." Ethan warned lowly.

Blair just sighed. "It's fine, Ethan. I'm used to it. He's not going to change."
"Damn right, I'm not. This is far too much fun. You said the same, remember?"
"But I did. I grew up. About time you did the same," she said gently, smiling sadly as if she pitied him.
His eyes darkened dangerously.

"I agree." Ethan said, glancing over at Kit.
Alice stood outside of the Theater, deep in thought, "Why does she seem so familiar?" she muttered.

Kit twisted his face into a sarcastic, condescending smirk. "Because you're the epitome of maturity, right, Ethan? You can't even tell when you're being played. They say love is blind. Looks like it applies to obsession, as well."

Ethan sneered, "Seriously Kit, this is why no one likes you. You don't trust a single person!"

"With good reason," he said almost too quietly for them to hear.
Blair watched him sadly. She knew only bits of his story. Hakkam always refused to tell her. He thought she'd use it as a weapon against him. He was right, but she was curious.

"Move on." Ethan said, with anything but kindness.

Kit's face darkened further. The hand curled around the edge of the counter tightened until his knuckles turned white. He didn't yell or attack him. That'd end badly for Ethan.
Blair touched Ethan's shoulder. "Be kind, even if he doesn't deserve it. Despite what you think, he does respond well to kindness."
Kit's eyes flicked to Blair and back to Ethan. "You act as if you know the meaning of that word," he hissed.

Ethan glared, "She's being kind to you, and still you act like a complete ass!"

"Is it truly kindness if it's all an act?" he asked, smiling pointedly at Blair. He saw her eyes flash for just a half-second. Nearly too fast for him to catch. "I can act kind, as well. It's too exhausting, I find. Not when so many people are so stupid. Don't you agree, Blair?"
"I don't. It's a skill to be practiced and honed. Something you don't have patience for. You base everyone's stupidity off of your intellect. It's not fair to the others, I'm afraid."

Ethan just listened, giving Kit a dirty look. He had enough of his attitude and just wanted him gone.

Kit shrugged. "Don't tell me it's not frustrating. You're just as smart as I am."
She blinked and grinned. "Was that a compliment?"
"A fact. There's a difference." He found a banana and started peeling it.
"Still. You acknowledged the fact. It's just as good as a compliment. Anyway, that's why you instruct them in their error. Kindly. And not by insulting them. That never helps."
He smirked. "But that's no fun."
She laughed lightly and shook her head. "You're hopeless. You just love causing trouble. Always taking the blunt, direct route."
"At least I'm blunt and direct and don't try flutter my eyelashes and giggle to get my way. Anyhow. I'm bored of this conversation. I'm going to find Hakkam."
"Give him my love and apologies."
"Sure. Sure," he said, waving his hand dismissively. He backed out of the room, smirking darkly as he went.

"You two seemed to get along." Ethan commented, raising an eyebrow.

Alice sat at the steps outside, still troubled by Blair, "Who are you?" she muttered.

She snorted a little. "Is that what you translated it as? No, that wasn't us getting along. That was us trying to outdo each other. It's the same as when we were back with Hakkam. He takes on a flippant attitude to make you feel better and at ease. As a result, it makes you slip up and say something you don't want to. He lulls you into thinking that you can say anything you want and you won't be judged. I've fallen for it too many times in the past." She smiled and laughed a little. "He'll never change."

Kit found Hakkam on the roof. The black man turned when he heard Kit. "Any progress?" he asked.
"Only a tiny, little sliver. Her eyes reverted back to normal, but they changed back for anyone else to notice."

"Ah," Ethan said, a bit embarrassed that he didn't catch on, "He seriously needs to move on. I hate him." he grumbled.

Roxy had grabbed herself some breakfast, awkwardly avoiding the conversation that had just taken place.

"Oh, I seriously doubt that. You don't seem like the type who could hate anyone." She smiled at Roxy. "Hello there!"

Ethan smiled, "I guess . . but . . I just wish he was kinder to you." he sighed.

"He will be. In time," she assured, patting his arm.
