Damn, Blair grumbled mentally. She turned and met his eyes, feigning grief and guilt. "I'm sorry, Aiden. I just . . . I'm confused."

Kit half-turned his head. "Don't be sorry," he called quietly after her, unsure if she heard it or not. Either way, he didn't care. He wasn't sure why he spoke in the first place.

Aiden blinked once as he looked her in the eye and his expression softened, "Don't worry about it, Blair." he said softly, taking her hand into his, "Just know you mean the world to me."
"And me too." Ethan added.

Alice was surprised at his response and hesitated. She almost wanted to help him be at ease, to be happy but she knew it was wrong. She sighed, heading back downstairs.

She smiled gently. "Thank you for understanding. I like you both, but I'm just confused. You're both wonderful."

Kit looked down at his hands then out at the city. He listened until her footsteps receded down the stairs.

"We understand, of course!" Aiden and Ethan said in unison.
"Do you want some space?" Aiden asked
"We'll go if you do!"

Alice walked down the hall, feeling terrible with her new power and by Kit's unhappiness.

Blair smiled thankfully. "I think I do, thanks guys." She kissed them both on the cheek and headed towards the street, confused and amused.

Kit flopped down on his back, arms crossed under his head. He closed his eyes. Monster. Machine. Monster. Machine. The words pounded through his head like chant. "If you call someone something long enough, they'll start to believe it," he whispered to himself.

Aiden and Ethan watched as she left, still captivated by her looks. When she was out of sight they sneered at each other.
"Looks like. ." Aiden smirked
"We're going to have to wait," Ethan mirrored the smirk
"For her to pick me." They said in unison before snarling at each other.
Jane watched from above the rooftops at the scene and smirked, "I'm already starting to feel stronger." she purred.

Sam stood at the door to the roof now and looked over at Kit, "I'm surprised not to see Alice with you." he commented, sauntering over.

Blair stepped inside and cocked her head to the side, still confused, but elected to ignore it for now. She had more important things to worry about.

"I managed to scare her away," he said without turning around. "I tend to do that."

"What happened?" Sam asked, sitting beside him.

Alice walked around the headquarters, her mind heavy with thoughts.

"I," he sighed, "I got angry." He looked down at his hands and then away from Sam. "I was cold. I was cruel. I was . . . being me."

Blair spotted Alice and paused. She smiled at her. "Everything alright?"

"Maybe it's time to change your ways." Sam offered lightly, "You keep driving people away."

Alice brightened up at Blair's voice, "I'm okay." she hesitated, "It's just .. Kit knows about my abilities."she explained, feeling like she had to tell Blair everything.

He groaned and threw himself backwards, palms covering his eyes. He winced, his ribs burning with the movement. "I know. I know! I've tried." He sighed. "I don't mean to be this way. I really don't. I've just . . . been this way for so long. I don't know anything else."

"Really? Did he get in one of his moods again?"

"You can try." he encouraged with a small smile, "Maybe go and try to talk to her." he said, standing up.

"Yeah." she frowned, "I feel like he wants to use my abilities to his advantage."

"I highly doubt she wants to talk to me right now," he muttered.

"I don't doubt it. Be careful though. Kit's smart. He'll figure out what you are long before you fully realize it yourself."

"You can try." Sam shrugged, "Stop being so logical and let things happen." Sam smiled, "I have to go do some work downstairs. Take it easy."

"I'll be sure to be careful." Alice nodded though she didn't understand what Blair was trying to say, "Do you want me to do anything else?"

"Yeah. Thanks, Sam," he replied. Kit sighed and raked both hands through his hair.

"Not right now, no. Just wondering why you looked so upset."

"Good luck." Sam said with a small smile, heading downstairs.

"Just the Kit thing." Alice shrug, "Should I let you be? "

Kit snorted and stared at the sky.

"I have a couple things to work out. Go talk to Kit, but be careful."

"Okay." Alice nodded before running off.

Sam walked down the halls, glancing around idly

Kit rolled onto his stomach and scraped at the roof with a piece of chalk.

"Sam! Hi there!" Blair greeted cheerfully.

Alice walked through the door on the roof and looked at Kit. She wasn't sure why but she moved towards him.

Sam glanced at her, "Hi Blair." He said, sounding disinterested

Kit glanced up. "And she returns!"

"What's wrong?" Blair asked, frowning in concern.

"She does." She said with a slight smile, "You seem happy. "

"Nothing i just have to deal with top secret stuff. " he shrugged, "It's all hush hush."

"Do I?" He smirked. "I'm getting better at this already."

"Oooh. Curiouser and curiouser."

"Better at what?" She asked raising an eyebrow.

"You'll have to stay curious I'm afraid. " he smirked, meeting her eyes and found himself unable to look away.

"Being happy."

She clicked her tongue disappointedly. "You're no fun."
