"You don't like to sit still for long do you?' Aiyana said with a half grin, finishing her food.

"It's far too boring to sit around all the time." Ur sighed loudly.

Aiyana chuckled "I agree, but you can get a lot out of sitting, and being quiet and listening." she shrugged

"Sounds boring." she muttered, sounding uninterested.

"To each their own." Aiyana said with a slight shrug, actually meaning it. Everyone was different.

Mags wrote:"I dunno," she sighed, "Something fun."

"It's fine," he said with a light smile, continuing to eat.

Yuri poked at her food, biting her lip to keep back questions. "You don't look like you're from a village," she finally said.

Rai ran her fingers over the carvings in the wall. She held the torch up higher, reading the inscriptions and translating the illustrations. It told of the spirit world and the mysteries it held. "Wonder if I'll ever see it," she murmured, stepping into another room.

Jiyang stood outside, staring up at the sky. He sighed and closed his eyes, his mind miles away.

Lyon looked at her, surprised for a moment but he put on a charming smile, "What do you mean?"

Ur looked over at Jiyang and raised an eyebrow, "Earth to Jiyang. Hello? Are you there? Did we lose you?"

"The boys in the village aren't nearly as . . . well-mannered as you." She frowned. "There's something different about you."

Jiyang ignored her and wandered farther down the terrace lining the cliff wall. Steps led down to a lower level. He followed them to a long since dried out fountain. It was tall, intricately carved, and regal. He ran his fingers around the edge, collecting dust as they went.

"Ah," he said, putting a hand on the back of his neck, "Well you see, my Uncle was all about manners and drilled me to be the same." he said with a forced smile. It's becoming harder to make up stuff on the spot. He sighed internally.

Ur raised an eyebrow, "Well, okay then . . " she frowned.

"Ah," she stated, still skeptical. "Good for you then. Always nice to have some civilized people around here."

Jiyang sat on the edge, crossing his legs under him. He leaned forward on his elbows, watching the sky grow darker and darker shade by shade. He loved the night. The darkness gave him energy rather than rest.

"Yeah," Lyon said with a nod before taking another bite of bread, avoiding making eye contact with her. I don't know how many more questions I can take.

Ur debated on going after Jiyang but decided to let him be. She laid back down and closed her eyes, the moon's light comforting her.

"Are you a Bender?" she asked. "I can Earthbend, but I'm really bad."

Jiyang's mind went back to the kids at the orphanage. How were they doing? Were they fed? Were they warm? Were they safe? He regretted leaving in same cases, but he felt like he was needed here more. They'd understand.

And here comes another one . . He looked over at her with a small smile, knowing very well he couldn't say he was a Firebender, "I'm afraid I'm not lucky enough to be a bender."

"Oh. That's OK. All the benders around here are bullies anyway," she replied with a one-shouldered shrug.

"Really?" Lyon said, raising an eyebrow, "Well, that's not good." he frowned.

"They think they're all high and mighty because they got drafted into the army. They leave next week, thankfully."

Rai lost track of time. She found a room made to track the stages of the moon, dozens of meditation chambers, a room-sized Pai Sho table, echo chambers, libraries, kitchens, dorm rooms, training rooms. The place was vast and endless. Finally, she headed back and ran into Jiyang.
"Oh, sorry," he apologized. His eyes lit up. "Wait here a second. I forgot about something."
"O-OK," she said hesitantly and waited until he sprinted back. He had a long stick in his hands. He jerked the contraption and wings sprouted from it.
"It's a glider!" he explained. "I found it in one of the rooms. I thought you'd might like it."
"I love it! Thank you so much!" she exclaimed, wrapping one arm around his neck. "Now I just need to figure out how to use it."

"If they're giving you guys trouble, I can try to deal with them," Lyon offered, "It's the least I can do."

"Really? Thank you! It'd make life a lot easier."
June smiled. "They need someone to kick them around. It'd humble them."

Jiyang and Rai returned to the camp. Gaho rumbled as a greeting.
"Hey, you should be asleep, buddy," she murmured, curling up on his side and running her fingers through his soft fur.

"Not a problem," he smiled, "I'll be sure to take them down a level.If I just get my hand on a sword, I should be fine."

Ur was already asleep out in the front, curled up into a ball and snoring softly.

"We have some in the shed. They might need to be sharpened though," Yuri said.

Jiyang settled down on his sleeping bag and rolled onto his stomach. He smiled, watching Rai get comfortable before falling asleep.

"Alright, thank you," he said, bowing his head and finishing his meal, "I promise to keep those men away."

Yuri beamed. "I'll show you where you'll be sleeping," she offered, getting to her feet.

"Alright," Lyon nodded, looking towards her parents and bowed his head, "Thank you for the meal." he said before following after her.

Yuri led the way to the tiny guest room at the back of the house. "It's not much, but the bed is comfortable and it's warm," she said, waiting at the door.

"I really appreciate this," Lyon said with a slight smile. He expected to be on his own after being kicked out of the group. He shook his head, trying not to think about it.
