Avan saw them coming and flashed a quick smile. His grandpa turned and greeted them with a huge smile.
"Dawn! Wonderful to see you again."

"Oh, we shall. We shall," she replied with a mischievous grin.

Dawn smiled, "It's good to see you again as well." she said, "How have you been?"

"What should we do?" Mai asked quietly.

"Very well, thank you. And you? Avan tells me you're enjoying the estate."

"We'll think something up at dinner," she promised with a wink.
Leo chuckled. "Our poor family."

"I've been just peachy. And I love it!" Dawn beamed, "Thank you for letting me attend."

"Yay!" Mai said, cheering once again.
"Man, your family is so cool." Drake said with envy.

"Of course, dear. It's always wonderful to have you around."

Elizabeth laughed. "We're a special group."

Dawn smiled back, she opened her mouth to reply but heard the familiar voice again, "Would you like a drink?" he asked Avan, his eyes flashing.

"Apparently so." He laughed, "But I like that."

"Sure, thanks," Avan said. He smiled through the pricking pain in his chest. Something's off about this guy, he thought watching his eyes.

"So do we." She looked around as the others gravitated towards the table, some taking seats and some standing behind their chairs.

"Here you go." he said, handing him the glass of white wine.
Dawn paled as she looked at the boy once again, shivering.

"Oh, dinner time? Good! I'm starved." he smirked.

"Th-thanks," he said, flashing a grateful smile. He glanced at Dawn. "You alright?"
"You look like you've seen a ghost, dearie," Michael stated, concerned.

"Yeah, let's go sit," Leo said, leading the group to the table.

Cyrus smirked before walking away.
"No, it's nothing." she said, brushing it off.

"Alright, I call head of the table!" he grinned.

"Alright," Avan said hesitantly. "Let's go sit down. Looks like we're about ready."

"Ah. No," Elizabeth laughed, catching him by the back of the suit. "You'll be booted from the house."

"Okay." she nodded, still seeming a bit distracted.

"What?" Drake frowned, "That's lame." he grumbled.

"Shake it off. He might just have one of those faces."
"That's what I said," Karleigh reasoned, following them.

"Mm. Considering you're not even part of the family." Elizabeth settled down beside Leo.

"Yeah, you're right." she nodded, staying close to Avan.

"Well, if I'd like to think of myself as a family member." he sighed, sitting at the other side of Leo.

He pulled the chair out for her. "Sit down. Eat, drink, relax."

"By the time you leave here, you will be," Leo said.

"Okay." she nodded, sitting down next to him, still fidgeting.

"Good," he said, pleased, "I just love you guys. In a non creeper way."

Avan chuckled and sat down next to her. "I'm gonna have to slip some kind of pill into your drink if you don't relax."

"Oh, of course," Elizabeth replied. "And we love you, too."
"In a very creepy way," Leo joked.

"Sorry," She said with a small smile, "Just out of it."
The servers started to bring drinks. Nea brought the drinks to Avan, his hand skimming against Avan's.

"Fair enough. And Leo. I already knew you loved me." he smirked.

Avan pulled his hand back slightly, the contact making his chest hurt again. He glanced up at Cyrus, frowning for just a second before waving at Eiizabeth, Drake, and Leo across the table.

"Was it that obvious?"

Dawn looked at him for a moment, "Everything okay?"
"Very." He said and waved over obnoxiously at Avan.

"Hmm? Yeah, of course," he said with a reassuring smile. "The waiter shocked me is all." He chuckled at Drake. "He fits in so well," he remarked around the edge of his glass.

"At least I'm not alone on that." she muttered before looking at Drake, "Oh yeah, his sparkling attitude really fits in." she joked.

Avan laughed. "Maybe it'll lighten some of these old bags of bones up."

"Hopefully." Dawn smiled. She watched as the servants started to bring bread to the table as well as other appetizers. Nea as back again, leaning next to Avan as he put the bread onto the table.

The contact rose goosebumps on Avan's arm, and he tightened that arm reflexively. He glanced up at Cyrus. "Thanks," he murmured, reaching for his drink again. He touched his temple where the pain had spread to.
