Alaric put a hand on her shoulder and smiled at her, "Just have hope."

Alexander glared at him before walking down the spiral staircase with Sebastian-Ben at his heels, following like an obedient dog.

"Oh, I always have hope," she replied, smiling a bit more.

Levi smirked and headed upstairs. His bad mood made him more sarcastic and snippy than usual.

"Good," Alaric said with a wink.

Gen sat on her bed, unable to process what had happen. A few tears made their way down her cheek, "He's alive." she whispered in disbelief.

Isabella managed a short laugh.

Levi knocked on the door. "Gen?" he asked.

Gen looked up at the door, "I'm here." she said quietly, wiping away the tears so Levi wouldn't see.

They reached the welcome shade of the forest. She looked up into the branches where she knew those patrolling were hiding.

He pushed the door open. "Hey," he greeted solemnly.

Gen looked up at him and smiled brokenly, "Hey, where were you?" she asked.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" A boy in his late teens asked as he walked alongside an older man who was dressed in leather armor.
The man nodded, "It must be done to stop Alexander's rule."
"As you say, Duncan," The boy said, inclining his head.
The man smiled and put a hand on the boy's shoulder, "Have faith in me, Ross."

He sighed and sat down. "Supposedly helping a girl out." He paused. "With the way it looked . . . it looked like Isabella had her tortured."

Gen hesitated before giving her response, keeping Ben's welfare in mind, "T-that's terrible," she said quietly, "Is the girl okay?"

"It should be near here," Duncan made his way deeper into the forest.
"Are you sure these people can help you?" Ross asked.
"I'm positive."

Levi buried his face in his hands. "She's recovering. I don't know what to think anymore. As dramatic as that sounds."

They reached the camp clearing. Isabella spotted a couple of men lurking at the edge. "Goody, more visitors."

Gen looked at him sadly, wishing she could tell him the truth, but she couldn't. She rested a hand on his back, "I wish I could help you." she replied sadly.

Alaric put his hand on his bow, ready to take it out, "Do you know these guys?"

"Any little word of encouragement would be nice." He smiled thinly, showing he meant no offense.

"No, I don't know them."

Gen hesitated, unsure what to say in fear she'd anger Victoria and put Ben in harm. She wrapped Levi in a hug, "Do whatever you think is best." she said quietly.

Alaric narrowed his eyes and aimed an arrow at the two, "Stop," he ordered, but then continued their way towards them. Alaric hesitated for a moment and fired the arrow, which Ross deflected with his knife and ran forward and Alaric, putting the blade of the knife at Alaric's neck, "Do not hurt our King." he said lowly.
"Enough, Ross." Duncan spoke, "We are friends." he assured Alaric before walking over to Isabella and bowed, "I am here to ask you for a favor."

(Can somebody fill me in on this one too? sorry )

(( So the girl who came to Isabella and the others for help tricked them and sent them to an ambush where Levi thought that they had hurt the girl. Levi left after confronting Isabella and then they headed back to the camp where Duncan from Sententiae is talking to them.))

Mercy walked beside Alaric and Isabelle under the trees quietly.

Levi nodded. He kissed her temple and got to his feet. "I'm going to poke around. Maybe find something to read." He disappeared into the hallway, closing the door after him. "If only I knew what the right thing to do was."

Isabella raised an eyebrow. She rested a hand on Alaric's shoulder in an attempt to ease him. "First I'll need your name before I hear this favor."

Gen watched him go sadly and sighed, putting a hand on her head, "I wish I could help you." she whispered, a series of tears trailed down her cheek.

"Duncan." The man replied, "We wish your aid in creating an army against Alexander."

Levi skimmed the books on the library's shelves. Nothing was popping out at him yet. "I need something really, really exciting or gory to distract me," he muttered to himself.

"Really now? If that's the case, then we'd be honored to assist you. Do you want to discuss this further at our camp?

"Hasn't there been enough gore and excitement in your life already? You don't need a book for that." Catherine said, walking in.

"Yes," Duncan nodded, "Thank you." he said with a thin smile.
Ross lowered his knife as Alaric lowered his bow, the two looking at each other crossly.

Levi chuckled, glancing over at her. "Yeah, but it keeps me from thinking, and that's not something I want to do right now."

Isabella looked between the two, mildly amused. "Follow me then." She whistled and six ladders dropped from the branches. "We're not comfortable on the ground," she stated while climbing up the ladder.

"Why not?" Catherine asked, looking generally concerned.

"understandable, thank you." Duncan said, inclining his head before looking over at Ross, "Come on boy."
Ross nodded, shooting a glare at Alaric before following his master.
"I hate that kid already." he muttered, arms crossed.

He looked at her, hesitated, and stopped and started his words. "I don't know who to trust right now. The more I think about it, the more overwhelmed I get, so reading is the only thing to keep me from thinking."

Isabella led them to the massive dining room and took a seat at the head of the table. "Take a seat, and we'll talk."
