Zombie RP

I feel like we need a good, horror, fast paced RP so here it is.
This RP takes place in New York where a zombie outbreak has just occurred. It is spreading quickly, killing innocent people or changing them into flesh lusting creatures. There seems to be no hope, but people are not giving up yet.
The outbreak seems to be caused by a virus, though there seems to be no cure, or way to stop it. It seems to spread faster when the victim is dead, rather than when they’re alive.
The outbreak has been going on for a week now, and few are still alive. A group of survivors meet in a safehouse on the outskirts of NYC. They’ll travel together to find a place of refuge and hope to rebuild their fallen nation, or just to survive.

Name: Kat

Personality: Is a bit of an alpha, quick thinking, brave, selfless, and caring. Has an issue of being too trusting though, and in times like this with the life or death situations, since she cares for others too much it could prove to be deadly.
Background: Lived in a bad part of the city as a kid and grew up with a strong sense of justice. She worked hard throughout highschool to get into a police academy, where she exceled. She has been with the force and things have been going well, until the outbreak. Now she’s killing the people she swore to protect when they were humans. Now she has been on the run with her neighbor, Gavin and his sister, Liza.

Personality: Is a bit of a coward, easily scared and flustered, he’s a bit selfish, he only really cares about his sister and his wellbeing. He is strong though, and trusts instinct more then anything
Background: Lived a spoiled life as a kid, where he was an underachiever at school but was great at sports. He is now a big athlete, playing on a baseball team, sometimes playing football and soccer. He lives with his younger sister, Liza after their mother passed away in a car accident and his father is recovering at a hospital. But now with the zombie outbreak, they’re on the run, having Kat help them throughout it.

Sounds like fun. I'm more familiar with Boston, so my character will be from there, but he will still be set in NY.

Personality: normally quiet until he gets comfortable enough with a person, hardworking, group-focused, naturally charismatic leader-type

Background: Was raised in Cambridge, MA until age 10 and then moved to the outer parts of Boston. Discovered a passion for writing poetry and prose, but his father thought his writing talents would be more practically used in journalism. In a crumbling world where the News is spread by mouth and the Media doesn't even exist anymore, he finds that his entire career path is quickly becoming more and more worthless. His father was an alcoholic, so he very rarely drinks and can't stand dealing with drunk people.
