"True, true." Fang said, sitting at the counter and stretched as he released a wide yawn, "Being a kid takes the energy out of you."

"Fine, I will." she said, sticking her tongue out at him as they crossed over the stone bridge.

"Well, when all you do is run around and climb, I would assume so." He grabbed an armful of spices and olive oil. He peeled a piece of fish from its plastic casing, tossed it in a plastic bag, tossed in a handful of spices and added the oil. He shook it up before letting it set and marinate. He repeated the process with the other four. "You can have the bed tonight, if you want. I'll stay up for a while, I think." He rubbed the bracelet as he spoke.

"I assume you made a face of some sort."

"If you're staying up, then I am too." Fang said determinedly, "Remember what happened last time I left you alone?"

"You assumed right, sir." she smirked.

"Alright, alright. I don't want to keep you from your sleep though," he murmured, smiling at Fang over his shoulder. He found a bag of rice and poured half into a pot with some water and lime juice. He put two pieces of fish onto the heated skillet and headed over to Fang. He leaned back against his legs, hands in his pockets.

"I figured." He chuckled when Zana snored lightly. "Precious kid."

"I'll stay up as long as I have to." he smiled, kissing him on the cheek.

"She's adorable." Chloe beamed, "She can sleep in my bed, there's a couch in my room I can sleep on."

Colin tilted his head back, smiling. "Thank you," he murmured, kissing Fang's jaw.

"Good. She deserves a warm bed after all she's been through. We almost there?"

"Anything for you." he smiled his eyes bright.

"Indeed she does, and yep!" she said walking a few more yards until she reached the house and opened the door then held it open for Devon.

Colin looked forward as he heard the door open. "Hey guys! I'm making dinner!" he called, heading over to the stove again. He flipped the pieces of fish and lowered the pot of rice to a simmer.
"Ooh. Smells good in here," Devon said, heading upstairs to lie Zana down.

"Awh, you're so sweet." Chloe said, walking in, "I'll be right back, apparently I need to take a shower." she said, making a face and headed upstairs.
Fang chuckled, leaning forward.

Colin laughed. "Take your time." He returned to his place against Fang's legs. He rubbed the back of his shoulder blade where a knot was forming. He rolled his shoulders and neck, trying to work it out.
Devon lied Zana down on the couch. He felt around for an extra blanket. His toe hit a trunk. He pulled it open and reached inside. He found a quilt and draped it over the little girl.

"I've got it." Fang said as he noticed, he got up and started to massage Colin's back.
Zana opened her eyes with a small yawn and looked up at Devon, "Thanks." she said quietly before closing them again.

"Bless your heart," he sighed, relieved.
Devon smiled and kissed her forehead. "No problem, kiddo. Get some rest." He slipped quietly out the door and trotted downstairs.

Fang chuckled, "I'm happy to help." he said, trying to break up the knots.
Zana nodded, rolling over on her side and started to snore softly.

Colin slipped the finished two pieces of fish onto a platter. He put two more on and checked the rice. He worked as subtly as possible as to not disrupt Fang.
"Hey guys," Devon greeted, hopping onto the opposite counter. "When will dinner be ready?"
"Fifteen minutes."

"Good, I'm starving." Fang complained, "Though I still want candy." he smirked.

"We'll ask Chloe when she gets out of the shower." He sprinkled salt and chili powder into the rice as it finished and stirred it up. He moved over to the sink, drained the rice, and poured it into a serving bowl.
"What're we having?" Devon asked.
"Seasoned fish and lime-chili rice."
"Sounds yummy," he praised, his mouth watering.

"You're so fancy." Fang chuckled, "But I want a large portion, please." he grinned.

Colin chuckled. "Well, my parents were incompetent as cooks, so I always made dinner. Kinda learned as I went. Save some for the other kids."
Devon snickered. "You're such a mom."
He laughed at that. "Strangely, I think I'm OK with that."

Fang laughed as well.
"What's with all the laughter?" Chloe asked as she walked in.

"Apparently I'm a mom now," Colin replied. "Something to do with being good at cooking. Good timing though. The rest of the fish is done." He slipped the last three pieces onto the platter and grabbed plates from the cabinet. "Dig in."

"Thank god." Fang grinned, grabbing a plate and sat down at the counter.
"Ah, good to know." Chloe smirked, grabbing a plate, "thank you, Colin."

"You're welcome." He claimed a portion for himself and hopped up on the counter. "What do you think?"
"DEAR GOD! THIS WAS MADE OF THE GODS!" Devon gushed.
Colin laughed. "Well, thanks."

Chloe took a bite and her eyes widened, "Wow, this is . . well, amazing."
"I agree." Fang said, shoveling food into his mouth.

"Fang. Fang. Breathe and chew. It'll taste better if you actually, you know, taste it," he teased, reaching over to rub his back. "And I really don't want you to choke and die."
"Well, you're here to give him mouth-to-mouth," Devon teased, making Colin laugh again.

Fang laughed, taking a break from eating to catch his breath, "Alright, fine, I'll slow down."
