Faith's Edge RP

"I know," he whispered, pressing his face into Fang's hair and closing his eyes. "How did we ever manage before this?"

Devon nodded at every detail, plotting everything in his mind. He held the flower gently, skimming the pad of his thumb over the velvety petals. The air smelled fresh and light though an undertone of smoke still hung in the air from the wreckage. The breeze was cool, and the setting sun overhead was warm. He could feel Chloe's body heat radiating against his skin. He smiled. "You know, I get asked a lot how I manage without being able to see. They pity me because I can't see the beauty that surrounds me everywhere I go. They're right to a point, but . . . they don't really understand. I 'see' things differently. I can smell the life in the air and feel every tiny detail in this petal - details that those with sight often overlook. It's so much more real to me; so much more . . . intricate." He blushed, realizing he was rambling. "Sorry. I'll shut up."

"I don't know." he admitted, "But at least we're past that." Fang smiled, kissing his neck.

"No, it's fine." Chloe smiled "I find it fascinating."

The kiss sent a line of shivers down his spine. Colin ran his fingers through Fang's hair and kissed his forehead. "Thankfully," he murmured against his skin.

Devon smiled crookedly at that. He knelt down and picked another flower. "If you want to 'see' like I do, close your eyes."

"Let's never go back to that." Fang smiled.

"Alright," Chloe obeyed, closing her eyes, "Now what?"

"Wasn't planning on it." He twisted a wry smile before closing his eyes again.

"Hold the flower. Touch it, memorize it, try to picture it in your head without looking at it. Put in details as you discover them."

Fang started to doze off a bit at Colin's side, warn out from the duel he was forced to fight in.

Chloe did as she was told, running a finger over the petals, feeling the texture and details and how delicate it was.

Colin heard Fang's breathing slow down and deepen. He shifted slightly, making it more comfortable for Fang but trying not to wake him.

Devon waited. "When you can see, you focus on the color and the appearance of whatever it is you're holding or looking at. When you don't have the luxury of using your eyes, you focus more on what it is rather than its appearance. Same goes for people, too."

Fang was soon out and deep into sleep. He snored lightly as he traveled deeper into sleep.

"Wow." Chloe said, opening her eyes, "You're right, I never once even cared for the details." she smiled, "That was incredible."

Colin listened to everything around him in silence. He listened to Fang's snoring and deep breathing as he slept. Those were the most prominent sounds, but there was the constant undertone of the water lapping against the dock, the whispering breeze, and Fang's heartbeat. Colin could hear his own pulsating steadily away in his chest. He could hear birds chatting away in the trees as they settled down for the evening. Even in apparent silence, everything was so alive.

Devon beamed at her. "It's relieving, in a way, to not rely on sight. I can never judge anyone based on their appearance. I have to actually talk to them and get to know them before I make an opinon on their character. Those who can see make up judgements and decisions on the spot."

For once, Fang's dreams were calming and free from his brother Demas's figure or his feral side. For once, it was happy and calming, it was something he could get use to.

"I suppose it would be better if we were all blind at times." Chloe said thoughtfully.

Colin stayed awake while Fang slept. He hid his face in Fang's hair again, savoring the warmth and calmness of the evening.

"See, it's not all bad though most everyone treats it like a disabilitating condition and marvel at how I'm still living."

Fang woke up after a bit, flashing a guilty smile, "Sorry . . didn't mean to doze off."

"Well, shame on them," Chloe said with a smile, "Let's get back home though before it gets dark." she said, leading the way.

"I didn't mind. It's been an exhausting day."

Devon nodded and matched her pace.

"Wanna head back?" He asked, stretching his arms back.

"If you need a place to stay while they're redoing Faith's Edge, there's an extra room at my place." she offered.

"Yeah. It's getting dark." Colin got to his feet and pulled Fang up after him.

He raised both eyebrows. "Well thanks. Yeah, I need someplace to sleep tonight."

Fang got up to his feet and stretched, "The only problem is finding a place to sleep. There may not be room at Faith's Edge, but we could always bother Chloe into letting us sleep on the couch." he smirked.

"Alright, good, my house isn't too far away." she smiled, taking his hand and started to lead the way.

Colin chuckled. "Worth a shot. Let's go find her."

Devon laced his fingers through hers and matched her pace.

"Let's check her house first, c'mon." Fang said, grabbing onto his hand and started to lead the way in a light jog.

"I'm sorry that you joined Faith's Edge when it's in this condition." Chloe sighed.

Colin matched his pace, yawning as he jogged.

"Oh, I don't mind. I'm just glad to be here."

"Looks like you could use some sleep." Fang said, looking over at him.

"Do you miss home though?" she asked as they walked over a small, stone bridge. She looked down at the running water below them.

"I'm exhausted," he admitted.

"I do, but I belong here, I think."

"I can understand that, it's been a busy day." Fang said, "A lot has happened, some good, some bad, some fantastic." he smirked.

"You do." Chloe assured, opening the door to her house and heard the barking of her German Shepherd fill the room, "Kiki!" Chloe smiled, kneeling down to pet the excited dog, "Hope you don't mind, I have a cat as well."

"Definitely enjoying the fantastic part," he said with a broad grin.

"Doggy!!" Devon exclaimed, holding out his hand.

"Me too," Fang smiled. He watched as people on the streets looked at the couple, looking shocked. Same sex couples wasn't exactly common in the city, but at the same time it wasn't frowned upon.

Kiki barked before sniffing his hand and started to lick it. Chloe laughed, "She's a sweetheart."

"Wonder what they would do if we started kissing," he murmured in Fang's ear with a mischievous smile.

"Hey there, sweetheart," he cooed, finding her ear and scratching it.
