Skylar brushed past her into the hall.

"They can't turn you by touching you," Avan called. He skidded to a stop, pulled his knife, and slashed at the nearest one. It wheeled back, screaming in pain. "Go. GO!" he yelled at Leo and followed at his heels.

Dawn smirked, following after him, wanting to indulge in some more blood. She was particularly interested in Avan's.

"But it cut me with it's nails." he said, blood dripping out of the cut, "Sh**!" he swore as more went on his trail.

But Skylar didn't run after them as quickly. He was locked a trance-like state, his human and vampire side warring with one another.

Avan lagged behind a couple steps, blocking the vampires from getting at Drake. "Almost there."

Dawn moved alongside for a moment, scowling, "Give into your vampire side, Skylar. You're not human." she reminded before speeding up, moving faster than the others as she aimed to tackle down Avan.

Avan caught Dawn by the shirt front and slammed her against the floor. He snarled into her face. "And you're not a vampire. Not fully."

Dawn grunted but smirked up at him, "I'm mostly though, and don't give me that look." she said, "Just relax, Avan." she said, trying to compel him, the extra blood making it easier to do.

He shook his head, fighting against her. "Really? You're using that on me?" He sneered and got to his feet. "You're hopeless." He sprinted down the hallway again.

"I don't like evil Dawn!" Drake cried.
Dawn sneered at him, "Get them." She ordered the group of fledglings and they obeyed, picking up pace.

"This way," Avan said, grabbing Leo by the arm and quickly veering down another hall. "Shortcut," he explained through pants.

Drake followed after them, "This is like a nightmare, except I would be naked if it were."

Dawn looked around for Skylar. She was worried about him, since he was one of her own kind. She just wanted him to give in. She turned around, looking for him.

"Thank God we're not in your nightmare," Leo remarked.
"Right here. Go," Avan said, tearing open the administration office doors and leading them ushering them inside.

Skylar staggered outside and sunk down in the shade. His whole body shook violently. His mind tore him in two different directions.

Drake ran in after him, closing the door behind, "Find something to bar the damn door!" he ordered.

Dawn finally found him and sighed, sitting towards him, "You have to give in, it's not so bad." she murmured, biting into her arm and offered him her blood, "This'll help it go smoother." she said softly.

Avan dragged furniture in front of the door, and Leo grabbed a bookcase. Once it was barred, Avan ran to the secretary's desk. "We need to speak to Lionheart. Now."

Skylar shook his head. "No," he rasped.

The secretary blinked at them, "He's in his office," she responded, looking at the barred door quizzically.
"Thanks." Drake said, racing forward.

"You have to, I'm trying to help." She said, attempting to put her wound to his lips.

"Thanks." Avan pushed the door open. "Sorry to barge in, but we have a problem."
"Big, big problem. With fangs," Leo added.

Skylar pushed her arm away. "I don't want it."

Lionhart raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

Dawn scowled, "You have to, Skylar. You can't fight what you are now. You accepted this gift. I don't want to see you in pain."

"On our last mission, you sent Dawn, Derek, and me to go fight those vampires in Manhattan. Well, Dawn was bit and she drank the vampire's blood. She didn't die, so she's not a full vampire, but she's acting like one, and she managed to turn about a dozen and a half people."

Skylar scowled. "You don't get it. I wanted to BITE my cousin! I don't want to live like that. Not with Avan. I can't do that. Not to him."

"And no one reported that Dawn got bit?" Lionhart demanded, "This is not good, not at all."
"Sorry?" Drake sighed, "I didn't know though."

"So what? When I was human, I liked Avan, and I still fed from him. You get over it, Skylar." Dawn said cooly.

Avan sighed and closed his eyes. "She didn't want to get killed for it."

Skylar snarled. "This is different."

"She wouldn't have to, there is a way to reverse it if she isn't fully changed. But now it may be too late with the school in danger, we may have no choice."

"I'd bite my brother if he was near." Dawn smirked, "Blood is blood, no matter whose it is. We need it to live, to survive. Didn't his blood smell amazing, you wanted a taste."

Avan swallowed hard. "What if we find the vampire who created her?"

"And therein lies the problem. My family is dysfunctional at its best; murderous at its worse. I have to hold onto the few that I have left. Get it?"

"If you find him and kill him, everyone should go back to normal." Lionhart nodded, "And he shouldn't be far, he was probably planning this to get an army."

"You don't have to kill those you bite." Dawn said, just not getting it, "You keep them alive and feed again and again. He'll even wear a smile while you do it if you tell him to."

Avan nodded. "I'll take care of that."
"Hey, I'm helping you," Leo insisted.

"That's worse," Skylar said dully.

"Me too!" Drake said, "No way you're leaving me alone with this horde."

"But the blood is so satisfying, didn't it smell good?" she murmured.

"OK. Now how to get out of here."

"Dawn, enough. Leave," he growled.
